Prepare a useful conversation about housing, responsibilities, and what matters to you.
Start with what matters
A useful conversation begins with your preferences, the home’s role in your life, and the people you want involved. You decide who to include.
Write down the questions
Ask how different housing or borrowing choices may affect day-to-day life, future moves, and the people who may manage the home later. Bring unanswered questions to a qualified counselor.
Leave room for another conversation
You do not have to settle every question at once. Record what you understand, what remains uncertain, and which facts need checking.
- What do we want to preserve?
- Which responsibilities would continue?
- What would happen if circumstances change?
- Who needs a copy of the plan?
